Terms of Service

What you're agreeing to when you subscribe. Kept simple.

These terms apply to all services provided by grn.haus ("we", "us", "our"). By subscribing, you agree to these terms.

What we provide

When you subscribe, we build and maintain a website for your business. Depending on your plan, this includes:

  • A professionally designed website, custom-built for your business, that works on phones, tablets and computers
  • Hosting and SSL certificate
  • Content updates via WhatsApp or email, just send us the changes and we'll make them
  • Domain setup assistance
  • Contact form (enquiries forwarded to your email)
  • Optional add-ons: social media management, online bookings. See Add-ons below
  • Any additional work we've agreed with you, such as custom development. It's part of your website, not an add-on

Before you subscribe

We design your site before you pay anything, so you can see it before you decide.

  • We research your business and design your site. Usually the home page and a page or two behind it, enough to show you the design properly
  • It costs nothing and you are not committed to anything
  • If it is not what you had in mind, tell us why and we will try again, as many times as it takes. If there is no existing branding to work from we are guessing at the style, so that is normal rather than a problem
  • What you see at this stage is the design, not the finished website. The rest of the pages, your full wording and your photos come after you subscribe
  • Once you are happy, you subscribe, we sort your domain, finish the site and put it live
  • Until you subscribe, what we have built stays ours. If you decide against it, that is the end of it and you owe us nothing

Pricing and payment

  • All prices are in GBP (£) and exclude VAT at 20% unless stated otherwise
  • Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe
  • Payment is taken on the same date each month from when you first subscribe
  • If a payment fails, we'll try again and notify you. If payment continues to fail, we may suspend your website until the balance is cleared

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time. There are no long-term contracts, exit fees, or cancellation penalties.

  • To cancel, email us at hello@grn.haus or message us on WhatsApp
  • Your website will remain live until the end of your current billing period
  • After cancellation, your site will be taken offline. We'll keep a backup for 30 days in case you change your mind, then delete it. Keeping your own copy of your text and photos is down to you
  • However, once you've been with us six months, you can ask for a copy of your site: the page files and images, as a zip
  • Those files are the design, not a working website. Getting it working elsewhere is down to you and whoever hosts it. Before six months, the site files stay with us
  • The files are the pages and images only. Anything we run as a service, the contact form and any add-ons, is not included and does not come with them. See Add-ons below
  • If we ever stop trading, none of the above applies. We'll give you whatever you need to carry on

Add-ons

Add-ons are software we run for you. You are paying to use them, not buying them.

  • The bookings system is ours. It is not part of your website and it is never handed over, including after six months. The site files you can ask for are pages and images, and bookings is not one of them
  • The same goes for social media management and anything else we run as a service
  • If you stop paying for an add-on it stops working, and the data in it, your bookings for instance, stops with it. Moving to something else is down to you, and we can't promise the data will come out in a form another system can read
  • If you cancel your website but want to keep an add-on running on its own, ask us. We can usually do that for a monthly fee

Domains

  • If we register a domain for you, it's registered in your name and we pay the renewals while you're subscribed. No extra charge
  • It sits in our registrar account, so changes come through us
  • You can move it to your own provider whenever you like. Tell us and we'll release it
  • A .com can't be transferred for 60 days after registration. That's ICANN's rule, not ours. Some registrars apply a similar lock to .co.uk. If that blocks a move, Nominet can do it directly for £10 plus VAT, which we pass on at cost
  • If you cancel, we'll tell you the renewal date and release the domain to you. After that it's yours to renew. We'll do our end of the transfer once, and we won't chase you
  • If you'd rather we kept it and kept renewing it after you've left, that's £50 a year, paid up front
  • If it isn't moved and isn't paid for, it expires on its renewal date and becomes available to anyone. We can't get it back once that happens

Content updates

  • Routine content updates (text changes, new photos, updated prices, opening hours) are included in your subscription
  • Send us changes on WhatsApp or by email to hello@grn.haus, whichever suits you
  • We aim to make updates within a few hours, but on occasion (sickness, vacation, other commitments), it could be up to 2 working days.
  • Major structural changes (new pages, redesigns, additional features) may be quoted separately as bespoke work
  • You're responsible for ensuring any content you provide to us is accurate, legal, and doesn't infringe anyone else's rights

Your content

  • You own the content you provide to us (your text, logos, photos). We don't claim ownership of it
  • By providing content, you give us permission to use it on your website
  • Accounts we set up in your name, Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram, stay yours. We'll hand over access whenever you ask
  • Images, design elements, and code we create for your site remain our intellectual property, licensed to you for the duration of your subscription
  • We may use your website, its content, and screenshots of it to showcase our work, including on our own website, portfolio, and social media channels
  • Before the six month point, you may not copy or reuse the website design, code, or assets after cancellation without our permission

What we don't do

  • We don't guarantee specific search engine rankings or traffic levels
  • We don't provide legal, financial, or professional advice through your website content
  • We're not responsible for any loss of business arising from website downtime, though we work hard to keep things running

Uptime and reliability

We host your website on reliable infrastructure and aim for high availability, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. Occasionally, sites may be briefly unavailable for maintenance or due to circumstances beyond our control. We'll always try to keep disruption to a minimum and communicate any planned downtime in advance.

Liability

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from our services is limited to the total amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that can't be excluded by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make changes that affect your rights, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email. Continued use of the service after that notice period means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
